Georgie
Hearne MSc CABC
Georgie has been working as a Pet Behaviour
Counsellor in London for 3 years after moving over here
from Australia to obtain a Masters in Companion Animal
Behaviour Counselling from Southampton University. Having
kept many animals, including rabbits, in Australia,
her special interest in them was further motivated by
Anne McBride’s enthusiasm, and grew after her
employment at a veterinary practice that has a specialist
Cat + Rabbit clinic amongst its general practices.
Georgie works as a pet behaviourist for
the Animal Medical Centre, London, where she provides
literature, advice and support to clients, vets and
vet nurses and sees cases on veterinary referral. She
writes for Fur and Feather magazine, and made regular
appearances on television and radio where she has been
consulted on cat, dog and rabbit behaviour.
Georgie has been a member of the Association
of Pet Behaviour Counsellors since 2001 and is also
very interested in the area of human animal interaction.
She is a member of the International Society for Anthrozoology
(ISAZ), Companion Animal Therapy Study Group (CABSTG)
and the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour
(ASAB). Before arriving in the UK Georgie started and
managed both a private and then a government funded
charity organisation that allowed isolated older people,
or people living with disabilities to benefit from companion
animal company.
